Christmas is all about spreading love and joy with everyone. This Christmas Essar Foundation celebrated the festival with the underprivileged children on Sanjivani VOICE, bringing laughter, joy, smiles and spreading the message of love at the community centre. Essar Foundation arranged a special lunch with the destitute, orphan and marginalised girls at Sanjivani VOICE (Voluntary Organization in Community Enterprises).
During a recent visit to the Centre, the children expressed their concern for food and other essentials. The Foundation team whilst interacting with the children, found out that the children wanted to celebrate Christmas with a good lunch. The Foundation team felt it was a perfect platform to celebrate a Christmas and arranged a sumptuous lunch on Christmas Day. The Foundation team will also be looking to address the concern about ration and will be supporting the Centre with food grains, ration and other essentials.
Sanjivani VOICE was started by two individuals, Victor and Rajashri. They reached out to children who were doing petty jobs or begging at ticket windows, footpaths, and those abandoned, at Mumbai’s busiest railway stations. Their operation and support network continued to grow and they managed to open a Centre at Andheri which catered to children who stayed in the Andheri belt and nearby areas of Andheri. They managed to open a bigger shelter home at Virar East for girls only, which currently take care of 150 disadvantaged children.
The girls enjoyed the meal and had a great time playing games, singing, and dancing to the Christmas carols. Mr. Victor and Ms. Rajashri, thanked Essar Foundation for being the perfect “Santa” to these girls and bringing joy and laughter on Christmas.
