At Essar, we believe that safe and clean drinking water is a basic right and everyone should have access to it. In our endeavour to support Swach Bharat Abhiyan, Essar Foundation donated a RO water purifier unit to Sahyog Vriddhashram, on Virar-Nasik Road.
In October 2022, Essar Foundation had provided the Ashram with ration and they had indicated that they use water from a bore-well, which has led to many senior citizens falling ill and developing health issues. Essar Foundation addressed the problem and provided them with a RO water purifier unit which process the bore-well water which is potable and meets the required TDS and pH levels.
Sahyog Vriddhashram provides shelter, food, and comfort to elderly people who can no longer live in their own homes for various reasons. Few have been abandoned by their children, some have lost their spouses, while some suffer from chronic diseases that made them incapable of living an independent life. These people face multiple, viz. psychological, physical, emotional, and health challenges.
At the Sahyog Vriddhashram, they find solace and consolation in being with their age group, apart from being cared for by dedicated caregivers who help them with their daily chores. Presently, the old-aged home houses 11 men and 17 women.
The residents of the ashram thanked the Foundation team for this thoughtful gesture. Mr. Dominic Dsouza COO-CSR, and Tej Singh Barwa of the Foundation team visited the ashram and inaugurated the RO water purifier unit.
