To serve others, even our health care heroes need protection. Essar Foundation is committed to providing medical supplies to frontline health care workers fighting against the Coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
Hospitals and healthcare services across the country have been hit with a shortage of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), which has been deemed as essential while fighting the viral pandemic. A PPE kit consists of a Coverall suit with hand cover, face shield, goggles, respiratory masks, gloves, shoe cover and a waste collection bag.
Essar recently donated 1,500 PPE kits to Guru Gobind Singh Government Hospital, Jamnagar and General Hospital, Jamkhanbhaliya, in Gujarat. These hospitals have been designated as Covid-19 treatment centres.
Guru Gobind Singh Government Hospital, Jamnagar, not only has a 700-bed capacity, but also a sample testing facility for Covid-19, which is being utilised by nearby districts (Porbandar, Dwarka, etc.) as well. Ms Nandini Bahrini, Hospital Superintendent, on behalf of the entire hospital, thanked Essar Foundation for their support, and for the contribution of 1,000 PPE kits.
On the other hand, General Hospital, Jamkhanbhaliya, a 100-bed facility is a Covid-19 hospital for Devbhoomi Dwarka district. Essar Foundation made a 500 PPE kit donation to the hospital which was appreciated by Dr RB Patel, Chief District Health Officer, and the entire hospital staff.
Both occasions were graced by Honourable Member of Parliament, Smt. Poonamben Maadam, who recognised and appreciated the efforts made by Essar Foundation towards fighting against the Coronavirus disease.
We stay committed to our pledge to the nation for providing 2 million meals and 1.55 lakh medical supplies as part of Essar Foundation’s Covid19 initiatives.
