Mumbai, 11 July 2017: Essar Steel India Limited (EStIL) has achieved a run rate of 83% of capacity and recorded a significant 29% quarter-on-quarter growth in flat steel production in the first quarter of the current fiscal. The total production stood at 1.57 million tonnes in Q1FY18 compared to 1.21 million tonnes in the corresponding period last year. Pellet production also grew by 36% to 2.75 million tonnes compared to 2.02 million tonnes in the same quarter last year.
The supplies to OEM segment including auto, white and yellow goods registered a growth of 64% at 2.05 lakh tonnes in Q1 FY18 compared to 1.25 lakh tonnes in the same period last year.
PPGI (Pre Painted Galvanised Iron) production was the highest ever in a quarter, 84.8 KT — up by 8.3% when compared to 78 KT produced in the corresponding period last year.
