India Energy Week (IEW) 2025, held this year in New Delhi, once again stood out as one of the largest and most influential energy events in India, bringing together global leaders, innovators, and experts to discuss and shape the future of energy. Essar proudly participated as the Platinum Sponsor, showcasing our commitment to advancing innovative and sustainable solutions for India’s energy future.
The event attracted over 700 exhibitors and 70,000 attendees, all eager to engage in meaningful discussions on energy security, sustainability, and technological advancements. Keynote addresses from Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and H.E. Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, set the stage for the event, emphasizing India’s growing role in shaping the global energy landscape.
Essar’s Showcase – Driving Multiple Green Pathways
As the Platinum Sponsor, Essar’s presence was a standout, showcasing our diverse portfolio of sustainable energy solutions, including renewable energy, hydrogen, coalbed methane (CBM), and green mobility. Through cutting-edge exhibits like 3D models of Essar Future Energy, Ultra Gas & Energy, and EET Hydrogen, we demonstrated our commitment to meeting both medium- and long-term global energy needs. At Essar, we believe the need for sustainable energy is more pressing than ever. Recognising that there is no single solution, we are driving multiple green pathways to help create a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.
Our green mobility ecosystem was prominently featured, with displays of the GreenLine LNG-powered truck, UGEL model, and Command Center. The GreenLine truck, in particular, drew significant attention, underlining Essar’s role in advancing innovation within the mobility sector. Its meeting room became a hub for leadership discussions, fostering collaboration on sustainable energy solutions.
Leadership Engagement
Prashant Ruia, Director of Essar, the driving force behind Essar’s energy strategy, visited the Essar stall to meet with key industry stakeholders. As the face of Essar, his presence underscored the company’s commitment to shaping India’s energy future. Leading insightful discussions and fostering strategic partnerships, Prashant highlighted Essar’s pioneering role in driving innovation and sustainable energy solutions across the country.
Alongside him, CEOs from various Essar businesses actively participated in high-level discussions, reflecting Essar’s position as a key player in the energy sector.
A standout moment was the panel discussion on “Delivering on the New E&P Imperatives for Developing Economies,” featuring Pankaj Kalra, CEO of Essar Oil & Gas Exploration and Production Ltd. Pankaj stressed the critical role of financing and government initiatives in boosting investor confidence. He highlighted that GST on gas could reduce input costs by 12-18%, and emphasised India’s vast untapped reserves, with AI and 3D/4D seismic mapping unlocking new opportunities. Pankaj also shared Essar’s bold ambition to ramp up coalbed methane (CBM) production within the next 2-3 years, targeting to contribute 5% of India’s total CBM production in the long term.
Ankur Kumar, CEO of Essar Renewables, delivered a thought-provoking discussion on ‘Driving the Renewables Revolution within the Future Global Energy Mix.’ He highlighted the importance of integrating renewable energy with AI-driven storage solutions to create a more efficient and affordable energy system, speeding up the global transition to renewables. Ankur also stressed the need for strong policy support for the hydrogen economy and pointed out the stability of renewable energy sources in driving green hydrogen growth. He concluded by reaffirming Essar’s commitment to leading the shift toward green molecules, particularly hydrogen, in the global energy mix.
In a panel discussion on ‘Ensuring Competitive Equipment Supply Chains and Procurement Options in Oil and Gas Field Operations,’ Ashish Agarwal, MD and CEO of Seros, spoke passionately about the company’s innovative approach to transforming traditional contracting processes, focusing on integrity, cost efficiency, and scalability. He highlighted how advanced technologies, such as RFID tracking and AI-driven models, have helped optimize inventory management and preventive maintenance. Ashish also talked about Seros’ success in reshaping India’s oilfield services market, positioning the company as a key player in both the Indian and global oilfield services industry.
During the final panel session, Ashish Kumar, Director of Exploration at Essar Oil and Gas, addressed ‘Methane Mitigation Technologies and Operational Practices.’ He focused on how CBM extraction offers both environmental and safety benefits by curbing methane emissions and increasing the share of gas in the energy mix. Ashish also advocated for the use of cutting-edge leak detection technologies and called for more government incentives to accelerate adoption. He urged the industry to step up its efforts in emissions reporting, vapor recovery, and enhancing combustion efficiency.
IEW 2025 was a successful four-day event, filled with valuable learning opportunities, meaningful collaborations, and insightful discussions. It provided a platform for industry leaders to share ideas, forge partnerships, and collectively address the challenges and opportunities facing the energy sector. As we look to the future, Essar remains dedicated to playing a key role in shaping India’s energy landscape.
