India Energy Week (IEW), the Nation’s flagship energy event
India is on track to be the world’s most populous country, and the largest energy consumer. As its economy continues to grow and create opportunities for its people, the country is projected to witness the largest increase in energy demand as compared to any other country over the next two decades. With this surge in demand for energy, India will be playing a key role in the global energy markets.
India Energy Week (IEW), which is poised to be one of the most remarkable landmark event in the country, this year showcased India’s rising prowess as an energy transition powerhouse. The inaugural of India Energy Week came at a critical time, with the challenges of energy security and environmental sustainability impacting long-term energy transition and paths towards decarbonisation.
Organised under the patronage of of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India, the event was inaugurated by Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the event along with Union Minister Shri Hardeep Singh Puri & Karnataka CM Shri Basavaraj S Bommai. The historic event witnessed presence and participation of global policymakers, industry veterans and energy sector leaders, who conversed and shared ideas on how India, as well as the world, will address the rising energy demand.

Essar, and its senior management joined thought leaders and industry stalwarts at IEW to address the nation’s Energy demand and chalk out the way-forward.
At Essar’s pavilion set up at the event venue, the company showcased its clean energy businesses like Essar Exploration & Production, Essar Oil & Gas Exploration & Production, Essar Energy Transition, Essar Oil UK, Vertex, Stanlow Terminals and Ultra Gas & Energy businesses. Business representatives and leadership were present at the stall to interact with visiting stakeholders, sharing their ideas and elaborating on Essar’s existing operations and future investments that target industry-wide clean energy transformation. #TransformingEnergyForTomorrow was the theme around which Essar’s swanky pavilion was set up.

Shri Prashant Ruia joins esteemed industry panel on low-carbon energy at IEW
Shri Prashant Ruia, Director, Essar Capital, was a part of an esteemed panel that included Mr. Daniel Kiptoo, Director General, Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority, Kenya, Eng. Musabbeh Al Kaabi, Executive Director, Low Carbon Solutions & International Growth Directorate, ADNOC, Mr. Patrick R Joseph, Chief Executive Officer, Petroseychelles and Mr. Hitesh Vaid, Chief Financial Officer, Cairn Oil & Gas (Vedanta). The discussions sparked conversations to understand how the energy industry is evolving to the demands of a transition to clean alternatives, and what this means for energy companies. In the discussion, Mr Ruia underlined how transitioning existing assets are as important as building new clean energy capacities. He also spoke with stakeholders on the sidelines highlighting how Essar is embarking on a new phase of growth by investing in hydrogen projects, building LNG import facilities and retail chains, and setting up steel plants. He stressed on the company’s plan to decarbonise, and the global need balance security, affordability, access and sustainability.
